NBA 2K27 is not treating MyCAREER like a single story with one destination. This year, the mode is being rebuilt around choice: choose a historical timeline, take the modern cinematic path, or bring a friend into your NBA career for the first time.
The headline trio is substantial. MyCAREER Eras opens five periods of league history. “Fire & Concrete” delivers an 11-chapter journey from high school to the NBA. Co-Op MyCAREER allows a second player to control Trace Miller, the custom Running Mate who develops alongside MP.
Put together, the reveal feels less like an annual refresh and more like an attempt to give offline and online MyCAREER players different reasons to start—and continue—their careers.
History Is Playable MyCAREER Eras
Put your MyPLAYER into five defining NBA timelines
MyCAREER Eras brings the foundation of MyNBA Eras into the player-locked career experience. You can begin in 1984, 1991, 2003, 2010 or 2016, then place your created star inside the league that existed at that point in basketball history.
Each timeline uses period-specific rosters, rules and presentation. Historically locked trades and player movement are designed to keep the league moving along its real-world path, while locker rooms, HUDs, score bugs, stat overlays and screen filters change to match the era.
More Than Nostalgia Eras Moments
Historic objectives give every era its own progression
The mode is not only about playing in retro arenas. Eras Moments challenge players to recreate or surpass achievements associated with each period. Completing those objectives moves the player through a 40-level reward track filled with exclusive cosmetics.
That system gives every timeline a defined chase and could make a second or third MyCAREER feel meaningfully different instead of becoming the same season with different jerseys.
The Modern Path Fire & Concrete
An 11-chapter comeback story with Vince Staples
Players who stay in the modern NBA enter “Fire & Concrete,” a cinematic story that 2K says is more than twice the length of last year’s campaign. The journey begins in high school, moves through the G League and Rucker Park, and continues into the NBA across 11 chapters.
Rapper and actor Vince Staples voices and performs Cam, MP’s cousin and a central figure in the story. The entire narrative also features a fully adaptive musical score for the first time, giving major scenes and on-court moments room to react to the player’s path.
Career control
Your performance can change draft night
- Performance-based draft position: Play well enough to climb the board and chase the No. 1 pick.
- Manual team choice: Players can still choose their preferred NBA team regardless of projected position.
- Second-season Key Games: Eight new story sets each cover roughly half a season through six featured games.
Bring A Friend Co-Op MyCAREER
Trace Miller turns a solo career into a shared run
Co-op enters MyCAREER through Trace Miller, a custom teammate MP meets in the G League. Trace stays with the player throughout the NBA career, and a friend can take control of him on a game-by-game basis.
The host chooses one of nine build templates inspired by current NBA stars, then upgrades Trace’s attributes, Badges and playstyle through gameplay. When a friend is unavailable, the AI controls him. When co-op is active, both players earn their own full VC and Season XP rewards.
That flexibility matters. You do not have to coordinate every game of an entire season, and your career does not stop when the second player is offline.

MyCAREER finally has three distinct identities
The biggest win is range. MyCAREER Eras serves players who want a basketball sandbox built around history. Fire & Concrete serves players who want an authored, cinematic climb. Running Mate co-op serves friends who have wanted to share the same NBA journey instead of meeting only in The City.
The real test will be progression: how quickly builds grow, how often the story interrupts the basketball and how naturally co-op fits into a full season. But on feature set alone, NBA 2K27 is giving MyCAREER more replay value than one linear campaign can provide.
