Madden’s newest update puts Franchise finances under the microscope, alongside gameplay adjustments and a fresh wave of equipment.

The biggest detail for commissioners: EA recommends starting a new Franchise to receive every salary-cap fix. Other changes do not require a restart.

CPU teams should make better decisions about retaining players, restructuring deals and releasing expensive underperformers. EA also corrected calculations involving incentives, void years and cap carryover. Extension negotiations now display next season’s cap space.

For established leagues, that creates a real decision. Restarting means sacrificing progress; continuing means accepting that every financial correction may not apply. Commissioners should review that distinction before making league-wide changes.

Coverage and protection get attention

Quarters matching, defensive assignment switches and hurry-up behavior receive fixes. Double or Nothing is slightly weakened across all tiers, while protection targeting receives adjustments.

These changes deserve attention in practice before the next league game. Familiar calls may demand different reads.

More equipment—and fixes beyond Franchise

The update adds 47 facemasks and four Rodgers celebration animations. Franchise progression, draft-class importing and depth-chart ordering also receive corrections.

Presentation additions include Stade de France and stadium authenticity updates. Superstar receives progression and stability fixes, while Ultimate Team gets disconnect-related improvements.

For Madden Underground, the priority is evaluating how the changes hold up across actual games and multiple seasons. The equipment refresh is welcome. Dependable league management would carry more lasting value.
