Training camp has become something of a tradition for Underground Sports Gaming. This visit felt a little different. The day brought together the early release of Madden NFL 27, the NFL Hall of Fame Game, good food, and a beautiful afternoon in sunny Southern California. Before the first rep, football season already felt close.
After parking, we were driven to The Bolt in perfectly air-conditioned charter buses. That ride set the tone. Everything was organized, comfortable, and designed to move a large crowd into the Chargers' practice facility without taking away from the excitement of arriving at camp.

Arrival
A professional welcome at The Bolt
The staff greeted us with a level of professionalism that stood out immediately, but it was also obvious they genuinely enjoyed what they were doing. Guests received posters featuring the Chargers' season schedule, a simple touch that made the visit feel less like waiting for practice and more like the beginning of the season.
The stands
Chargers fans make camp social
After finding the perfect seat, we watched the players begin to trickle onto the field. Each one looked energized but focused. Chargers fans added another layer to the day. They were friendly, social, and ready to talk football. The fan beside me and I literally sat there comparing the speed of practice to Madden ratings. It was a fun conversation, but it also captured why this day fit Underground Sports Gaming so well: the real game and the virtual one were right there together.

Practice begins
Warmups turn anticipation into football
Practice opened with team warmups. From the stands, the rhythm of the session was easy to see: players moving together, coaches organizing the next phase, and every part of the field coming to life. The size of the roster and the speed of the operation are different when you see them in person. What looks routine on a screen feels much more precise from a few rows away.

Position work
The details become easier to see
After warmups, the team broke into position groups. That is when camp becomes especially valuable for a football fan. Instead of following the ball, you can watch footwork, spacing, communication, and the repetition behind every movement. Justin Herbert's yellow No. 10 jersey made the quarterback work easy to follow as the group moved through its drills.

USG takeaway Football is back
The perfect bridge between the field and Madden NFL 27
Madden turns a player's speed, awareness, and ability into numbers. Training camp lets you see the work behind those ratings. Watching the pace of practice on the same day as the early release of Madden NFL 27 made the connection feel even stronger.
Add the Hall of Fame Game later that evening, the Southern California weather, the fans, and the atmosphere at The Bolt, and this became more than a routine camp visit. It was one of those days that makes it clear football season is here—and it is exactly why Chargers training camp has become a tradition for Underground Sports Gaming.
