Gameplay breakdown
01

Run game

Run-action blocking should identify threats more effectively

EA improved blocking targeting on run-action plays, allowing blockers to recognize defensive threats more effectively. Players should see fewer situations in which an offensive lineman ignores an obvious defender entering the running lane.

The adjustment could make option concepts, misdirection, and other run-action plays more dependable against aggressive defensive fronts.

02

Defensive adjustments

Custom contains should now be respected

The update fixes an issue that caused contains selected through custom defensive adjustments to be ignored. Defenders assigned to contain should now maintain outside leverage more consistently instead of abandoning the assignment and opening an escape lane.

That correction matters most against mobile quarterbacks, where a reliable edge is often the difference between a sack and a long scramble.

03

Quarterback movement

QB spins behind the line of scrimmage were nerfed

EA reduced the effectiveness of quarterback spin moves behind the line of scrimmage. Quarterbacks had been able to use spins to avoid pressure and extend plays in ways that often felt unrealistic.

Mobile quarterbacks will remain dangerous, but players should face a greater penalty for relying on repeated spins in the backfield. Pocket movement, proper reads, and knowing when to throw the ball away should carry more weight.

04

Passing game

Hurried and off-target catches receive a consistency pass

Wide-receiver catch success rates have been tuned to create more consistent results on hurried and off-target passes. The change does not mean receivers will automatically catch every inaccurate throw.

The goal is to produce outcomes that better reflect the location of the pass, the receiver's position, and the pressure affecting the quarterback. Players should monitor how the tuning affects throws made under pressure and passes just outside a receiver's normal catch radius.

05

Special teams

The looping field-goal block issue has been addressed

The patch fixes a field-goal blocking issue involving looping defenders. Certain alignments allowed players to loop a defender around the protection and reach the kicker too easily.

Closing that exploit should make field-goal attempts more balanced and reduce blocks caused by manipulating special-teams protection.

USG analysis Competitive impact

The contain and field-goal fixes could decide close games

For College Football Underground competitors, the most significant changes may be the fixes to custom contains and looping field-goal blocks. Both issues can directly affect close user games, especially against mobile quarterbacks or during late-game special-teams situations.

The blocking and catching adjustments could also change which offensive concepts feel dependable. Players should spend time in practice mode testing run-action plays, quarterback movement, and passing under pressure before their next dynasty matchup.
